Around 600 Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samruddhi Kendras (PMKSK) were inaugurated under the Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilisers. More than 3.3 lakh fertiliser retail shops in the country will now be converted to PMKSK in a phased manner. These Kendras will serve the needs of the farmers by providing them with a wide variety of seeds, fertilisers, and also testing facilities for the soil under a single roof. It will also help generate awareness among farmers by informing them about the various government schemes and ensuring regular capacity building of retailers at block and district-level outlets.

PM also launched the Bhartiya Jan Urvarak Pariyojana(PMBJP)- One Nation One Fertiliser scheme, which was announced by the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers in August this year. The scheme aims to introduce a single brand name ‘Bharat’ for all the subsidised fertilisers marketed by the companies. This includes Bharat urea, Bharat DAP, Bharat MOP, Bharat NPK, and so on.

To benefit more than 10 crore Indian farmers, PM Modi released the 12th installment of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana(PM-KISAN) through Direct Benefit Transfer(DBT), which is worth around 16,000 crores. The scheme was launched in 2019 to provide eligible farmers a benefit of Rs. 6000 per year in three equal installments of Rs. 2000 each. The scheme has been successful in providing minimum income support to the farmers.

An e-magazine on fertilisers called the ‘Indian edge’ was also launched during the event. It will provide information about the domestic and international fertiliser scenarios, which includes the price trend analysis, recent developments, its availability and consumption, and also about the success stories of farmers. The magazine will act as a one-stop platform for the farmers to be updated about the ongoing progress in the fertiliser sector.

To promote the entrepreneurs and startup culture, PM inaugurated the Agri Startup Conclave and Exhibition. Around 300 startups will showcase their technologies related to precision farming, allied agriculture, waste to wealth, post-harvest and value-added solutions, supply chain management, agri-logistics, and mechanisation for small farmers. This platform would also facilitate the startups to interact with farmers, agri-experts, Farmer producer organisations, and corporates.
