Volunteers and Interns
Manushi welcomes volunteers and interns for work with the Journal, as well as to take part in our activist campaigns and organizational work through Manushi Sangathan.

A) The Journal welcomes volunteers and interns who can undertake the following tasks:
 
1) Editing and proofreading;
2) Layout and design;
3) Art work, illustrations and photography;
4) Translation of regional literature into English;
5) Correspondence with authors;
6) Promotion and outreach campaigns, enrolling new subscribers;
7) Research and investigations;
8) Fundraising campaigns.
   
B) Manushi Sangathan is looking for interns to do:
 
1)
Organisational work with street vendors, rickshaw pullers and other groups of urban poor;
2) Advocacy – human rights, legal and legislative;
3) Fund raising;
4) Documentary film making which requires the following skills:
      a) writing
      b) Videography
      c) Digital editing
5) Preparation of campaign literature
6) Identifying new potential sources of support.
   
We also welcome volunteers who can help with regular administrative work in the office on a regular or part-time basis.


Our Expectations from Volunteers

There are no special requirements for volunteers. All we expect from volunteers is that they come to a mutually acceptable arrangement with us that commits them to a regular schedule of times and dates and specifies the work to be done.


Requirements for Interns

a) Minimum 3 months full time or equivalent duration of internship.
b)
Formal agreement with sending educational institution as to joint supervisory responsibilities and specification of the student’s internship project prior to start of internship.
c)
Commitment to complete the project to the satisfaction of both Manushi and educational institution.
d)
Formal arrangements for visas, government notifications, etc. to be responsibility of intern and her/his educational institution.
